Our Course

The Class A CDL course is completed within just 4 weeks. Students will be provided classroom instruction and driving instruction with the course.

The program consists of:

CDL CLASSROOM TRAINING

The first week of class prepares students for the Georgia permit test. You will receive federally mandated entry level driver training, learn about current hours of service regulations, and how to properly fill out and maintain a logbook. North Georgia CDL students have the opportunity to learn all the necessary skills needed to be a successful professional truck driver.

CDL FIELD TRAINING

Field training prepares you for your Georgia CDL tests. We use industry standard equipment when training our students. Our goal is to build your confidence so that you are safe and prepared. During field training you’ll learn all the basic skills needed as a professional driver. You’ll learn to properly pre-trip your vehicle, pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and various backing techniques from straight line backing to sight side and blind side parallel parking, as well as 90 degree backing.

ON ROAD TRAINING

Our instructors will ensure you have the skills and confidence required to pass the Georgia state road test. You will have all of the tools to be successful in your new career.

Road training gives you experience in a variety of driving environments that you will experience as a professional truck driver such as country roads, highways, and city driving. We will show you the proper techniques for: straight driving, how to properly execute turns, speed management, and proper braking under normal and emergency conditions. You will know how to manage the space around your vehicle, as well as the procedures for many different driving situations. Students will also practice properly upshifting, downshifting, and double-clutching.

Commercial Driver's License Test

Our students complete the state road test in North Georgia CDL Training's vehicles, which are the same vehicles they are trained in. As a graduate of North Georgia CDL Training, you will be licensed and ready for immediate employment. All CDL testing in Georgia is conducted by the Georgia Department of Driver Services.

The CDL test consists of three parts: Pre-Trip Inspection, Skills Test, and the On Road Driving Test.
